Your credit is one of the most valuable assets you have, believe it or not. Your credit score determines several things concerning your financial future.

1.  If you can obtain a loan.

2. If you can obtain a credit card.

3. The interest rate you'll pay.

4. If you can purchase insurance...this applies to homeowners insurance, car insurance, and life insurance.

5. If you are bondable by a company.

6. If you can get a job. More and more companies are running credit reports before they will hire you.

Identity Theft:

We are living in the day and age of identity theft. It's rampant! Most people don't even realize it's happened to them until it's too late.

So how do you protect yourself from identity theft? Plain and simple, you've got to do your due diligence. Here are some pointers:

1. Check your bank accounts at least every 2 days, checking and savings! Watch for sudden and unknown depletion of funds.

2. Monitor you credit card accounts. Don't wait for that once a month statement! It's now easy to check these accounts online. Check these at least once a week.

3. Keep a close watch on your credit report. Watch for a change of address, unknown charge accounts and abnormal credit inquiries.
